On Friday 13 September Universitas 21 and close partner Common Purpose attended the annual PIEoneer Awards at The Guild Hall in London.
Organised by The PIE (Professionals in International Education), the awards recognise success, achievement and innovation across global education.
Amongst tough competition, Universitas 21 and Common Purpose were awarded Highly Commended in the Championing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Award 2024 in recognition of the success of their international student programme.
Over the past five years, U21 and Common Purpose have proudly partnered with a shared purpose and a bold ambition to break barriers hindering students from accessing traditional global experiences. Together, we are striving to ensure that every student can benefit from an international learning experience.
Through innovative programming, we have developed experiences for thousands of students globally - students from all disciplines and levels across the 29 U21 member universities in over 20 countries – and particularly reaching and empowering students who might otherwise be excluded from these opportunities.
Jenny Dixon, Provost of U21, noted that "As a global network we are very committed to engaging with students who experience barriers to traditional modes of learning. Our long-standing and productive partnership with Common Purpose has been instrumental in reaching out to more students. We are delighted that our work has been recognised."
Earlier this year, U21 deepened its commitment to Climate Action becoming a signatory of the CANIE Accord, fully supporting CANIE’s mission and principles to strengthen and accelerate the higher education sector's commitment to climate action.
U21 is delighted to see CANIE step away from The PIEoneer Awards as winners of Membership organisation of the year and the Sustainability international impact award.
