VACANCY - Come and work for U21 as our 'Researcher Engagement Cluster Manager'

18 October 2017
Ready for a new challenge? Come and work for U21 as our new Researcher Engagement Cluster Manager.

You build brilliant relationships, are highly organised and have a strong reputation for delivery. With a track record of successful operation within a complex environment, you understand and appreciate the importance of research in a top-class University and are looking to develop your career within the field of international Higher Education.

We are Universitas 21 (U21) - a leading global network of research-intensive universities that empower our members to share excellence, collaborate across borders and nurture global knowledge exchange.

Founded in 1997, U21 is a university network that is passionate about international collaboration. We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to manage our ‘Researcher Engagement’ Cluster, lead on the delivery of our initiatives, primarily with research-focused staff and students, and also provide more general project-based support to ensure we realise the full potential of our members and the network as a whole.

The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, persuasive, diplomatic and adaptable, with proven experience of meeting the needs of multiple stakeholders. As the lead of one of U21’s three main streams of activity (Researcher Engagement, Educational Innovation and Student Experience), it is critical that you can think strategically and appreciate and foster important global collaboration between our member universities’ staff and students, particularly in the research area. Using sophisticated project management tools and strategies, you will be able to manage complex projects, events and initiatives from inception to successfully delivery.

The role will be based on the University of Birmingham’s beautiful campus in Edgbaston and benefits from a generous holiday allowance and pension. Given the global nature of our membership, you will occasionally be required to work flexibly to take into account different time zones and undertake some international travel; both of which will be well planned in advance.

Informal enquiries are encouraged – please contact Jade Bressington, Director of Operations ( or 0121 415 8872) to find out more about this fantastic opportunity.

The application form attached below must be emailed to by midnight on 12 November 2017.
