U21 Managers' Meeting
Registration is now open for the U21 Managers' Meeting in Melbourne, taking place on 16 and 17 October 2014.
This meeting will be addressing the role & function of the group after the Hilmer Review; further refinement of additional projects (known as WOW projects); and how to recognise excellence in the internationalisation of higher education.
The meeting agenda is still being finalised, but at present the meeting is scheduled to begin at 09:30 on Thursday 16 October, concluding at 16:00 on Friday 17 October.
There will be an informal welcome reception on Wednesday 15 October at 6:30pm.
There will also be an evening meal at 6:30pm on Thursday 16 October.
Friday evening will be free for delegates to make their own arrangements.
As usual, meeting papers will be sent out by email nearer the meeting date and, as in previous years, we are asking people to indicate on their registration forms whether they will require a hard copy of the papers provided for them, or will be bringing their own papers (or ipdas) with them.
There is a major event happening in Melbourne at the time of the meeting, so hotel accommodation is limited. Colleagues at the University of Melbourne have secured a group rate at the Westin Hotel, 205 Collins Street, Melbourne for the nights of 15 & 16 October (Wednesday and Thursday nights).
PLEASE NOTE: There is a strict booking deadline for the hotel accommodation of 15 September 2014. The group rate is not available after this date and availablity cannot be guaranteed.
Rooms can be cancelled free of charge before 15 September, but after this date there will be a cancellation fee of the whole stay's cost.
It takes just over half an hour to travel by taxi from the airport to the hotel and should cost in the region of AUS$50.
There is also the Skybus service, which runs from the airport to the the Southern Cross Railway Station depot, where delegates need to check onto the hotel tranfer service for transport directly to the hotel. This costs AUS$18. (http://www.skybus.com.au/hotel-transfer-service/)
Most nationalities will require a visa of some description to enter Australia. Many can be applied for online as electronic visas, but all delegates should check the regulations on the Australian government's immigration website (http://www.immi.gov.au/Visit/Pages/Visit.aspx).
If you require a letter of invitation to help with a visa application, please indicate this on the registration form.
