The 2013 ECR Workshop will take place from 2-3 December 2013 at Tecnológico de Monterrey, with the theme: ‘Innovative Technologies: From Research to Impact on Society’.

This workshop will bring together Early Career Researchers (ECRs) from across the U21 network within the first eight years of their post-doctoral career.  The broad discipline of ‘Technology’ will provide the opportunity to share knowledge and current projects which are at the cutting edge of research around the world in fields such as Information Technologies, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics, Material Science, Biotechnology, Energy, amongst others.  Social Science and business specialists are also welcome to create a multidisciplinary environment.

Tecnológico de Monterrey has a vast experience in these areas, for the past 70 years it has been a unique partner for the development of applied research, tech-transfer and services to industry in Mexico. The research is organized and oriented in groups called research chairs. Each chair has as its goal, the development of basic and applied research integrating graduate and under graduate students, post-doctoral students and professor researchers in the areas of: engineering, business and social sciences.

The key objective of this workshop is to increase ECRs research capabilities and develop skills associated with career development in academia.  The workshop will also have a strong focus on networking and gaining an international perspective on the role and career route of researchers.

The two day programme will include small group working, talks by established U21 researchers, poster sessions, a key note address, and sessions with multi-national perspectives on:

  • How to develop top level research
  • How to increase impact in your research
  • How to increase fund raising
  • How does Intellectual Property help your research?
