Registration is now open for the two Researcher Engagement cluster meetings taking place at the University of British Columbia.

The Research Leaders' group and the Deans & Directors of Graduate Studies group will be meeting in parallel sessions on Monday 6 May and the morning of Tuesday 7 May, coming together on the Tuesday afternoon for discussions concerning the whole RE cluster and its plans for the coming year.

Meeting agendas

Agendas for both meetings are currently being drawn up and will be circulated nearer the time, but meeting registration and hotel bookings are now open.

Presidential Symposium

These meetings preceed the U21 Annual Network series of meetings, which include the Presidential Synposium.  RL and DDoGS delegates are very welcome to remain in Vancouver and attend the Symposium on Thursday 9 May, but are responsible for organising their own programme activity on the Wednesday.

Please indicate on the meeting registration form if you wish to stay for the Symposium.

Hotel accommodation

Delegates are responsible for booking their own accommodation directly with the conference hotel, the Rosewood Georgia Hotel.Colleagues at UBC have secured favourable rates at this hotel.

When booking with the hotel, delegates should state that they are part of the "U21 AGM Group".

The available rooms are classifed as:

  • "Run of House King Rooms" (Superior Rooms on the website)

Reservations can be made either by telephoning the hotel on +1 604 682 5566 or by emailing  You will not be able to get the group booking rate by booking online.

Rooms will be allocated by the hotel in order of bookings, so delegates are advised to reserve their accommodation early to avoid disappointment.

Visa requirements

Some delegates will require a visa to enter Canada.  If this applies to you, you may wish to use the template letter, downloadable below, to help with your application.  Should you need anything else to support your visa application, please contact Jill Lambert ( at UBC who will be happy to assist.

Transport options

The quickest, cheapest (and greenest!) way to get from Vancouver International Airport to the hotel is to take the Skytrain to Vancouver City Centre Station, which is less than a block from the hotel.

The hotel's website also gives various other options for transport from the airport (including the hotel's limo pick up service) to the hotel at

Meeting registration

Registration for the meetings is via the U21 website (link below).

As there is sometimes crossover between membership of the RL and DDoGS groups, please be certain to indicate on the form which meeting you will be attending on the Monday and Tuesday morning.
