  Participants  Any student nominated by a U21 university
     
    The 2008 U21 Summer School will take place from 30 June to 12 July at the University of Birmingham, with Embracing Diversity through Creativity, Culture and Innovation as the theme. 

The Summer School is open to students from any discipline studying at a U21 institution, but as places are limited, you should check with your own university regarding their procedure for applications.

Increasingly, graduate employment is internationalised. Students are expected to engage with diverse cultures and citizens across the globe. The skills developed in this summer school will be important for your social and professional development.

  • You will be asked to participate in many activities that will express your creative talents.
     
  • You will have the opportunity to engage in Birmingham's vibrant multicultural scene and learn from this experience.
     
  • Your perceptions will be challenged, encouraging you to think beyond your current experience.
     
  • You will be asked to provide innovative solutions to diversity issues.
     
  • he diversity theme engages with global perspectives and you will consider how these issues relate to economic, cultural, social and environmental impact.

The participation fee is £500 per students - check with your institution as to how this will be paid, as many institutions offer assistance in paying this!

The fee includes:

  • On-suite accommodation in halls next to our campus
  • Breakfast on campus
  • A lunchtime meal in the Business School
  • The full academic programme
  • Visits and field trips relating to the Summer School theme
  • Social and cultural visits and entrance fees organised for Saturday 5 July and Sunday 6July.
