Membership Criteria
Prospective members should:
- be able to demonstrate an international perspective in research,
teaching and management in keeping with the six core underlying
principles of Universitas 21
- demonstrate commitment to the mission and principles of
Universitas 21 and have a clear plan of how to access the
opportunities membership brings with it, together with the resources
to do so;
- be able to demonstrate experience of engaging with the key
themes of Universitas 21
- demonstrate a good fit with the profile and characteristics of
existing members by being acknowledged by peers within and without
the region of the world in which the university is located as being
a regional or global leader among broadly-based research-intensive
universities;
- have a commitment to improving the global standing of the
university and to addressing real world problems through the
application of research and teaching;
- have a broad-based curriculum and offer education at the highest
levels;
- show willingness to engage collectively in Universitas 21's
key themes and activities and, from time to time, an ability to
exercise leadership role in some of them.

- to make an impact with co-badged collaborative research of global
relevance and significance
- to recognise the interlinked nature of research, teaching and
knowledge transfer as underpinning the activities of our members and of
the network
- to encourage cross-network collaboration and work
- to keep our internal processes and structures under review so that we
can respond to opportunities and be accountable to our members and the
wider community
