Summer School 2017
The University of Johannesburg is offering 10 places for U21 students in its course ‘Fabricating Design Space/s’. This course is designed to give students both the theoretical and practical expertise in design from the South African perspective. The course covers health and safety, studio equipment, materials for design, metal preparation, with strong focus on the Business of Design, Fashion Design and Jewellery Making.
The academic section of the course is run by the Department of Jewellery (Faculty of Art Design and Architecture) and the industry immersion section is facilitated by David Tlale, a South African international designer who have showcased his work at all the major Fashion Weeks in South Africa, the rest of the African Continent, Europe and the Americas.

Eligible Students: Second year undergraduate students with design background
Costs Covered: U21 will cover the tuition fees, accommodation, and basic food for the 10 nominated U21 students.
Application process: Students must be nominated by their home institution, in light of the limited number of U21 sponsored spaces available just one nomination per institution will initially be accepted. Please note that while nomination process closes on 17 March 2017 if the quota of 10 students is reached prior to that date the nomination process will close (members will be notified by email when the quota is reached). Acceptance into the programme is on a first-come, first served basis (providing the programme criteria is met).
