| Universities must rethink
the campus as a 'place' for learning. New kinds of formal classroom
and informal learning environments are needed. Student-centred approaches to learning require appropriate environments to enable students to engage in collaborative, problem-based and self-directed learning. This session will reveal the approach being undertaken at The University of Melbourne to create 'new generation learning environments'. The session will identify the key educational ideas underpinning the design of new learning environments, provide insight into major new classroom and informal learning facilities, and describe a recent professional development session convened on behalf of U21 to promote multi-disciplinary approaches to the design of new learning environments. The session will be led by Associate Professor Peter Jamieson and will include representatives of other U21 institutions. |
