Profile: Lund University

Lund UniversityLund University was founded in 1666. Today it is an international centre for research and education that has over 40,000 students. Lund University is ranked as one of the best universities in Europe with an excellent academic reputation and a large number of visiting professors and international students. There are over 500 professors actively involved in cutting edge teaching and research, across a broad range of fields.

Lund University offers the following education in English:

  • 300 Single subject courses
  • 50 Master's Programmes
  • PhD studies and post graduate research

The city of Lund is a medieval city with the university at its heart. The city has striking architecture and, in a city of 100 000 people where approximately 30 000 of them are students, the atmosphere is vibrant and stimulating. Lund is situated in the far south of Sweden, close to the modern city of Malmö and within very easy reach of the rest of Europe. Global studies show that Sweden is one of the safest, most environmentally aware and peaceful countries in the world. It is one of the most creative, the most globalised, the most IT connected and has one of the most competitive economies.

Lund has a long history of welcoming international students and the university has the largest number of international students in Sweden. The region is culturally diverse and English is the second language of most Swedes. Social life is lively, varied and exciting.
