Title Forum for International Networking in Education
  Dates 23 March 2008
Venue Hilton Hotel, Concourse E, New York, USA
Participants  Universitas 21 Doctoral Students in Education

The Universitas 21 Doctoral Students in Education held the first FINE event in Chicago last year just before the 2007 AERA conference.

Come and join us for the second U21 Doctoral Students Forum for International Networking in Education (another FINE event!). The Forum will be held on the day before the commencement of the annual conference of the American Educational Research Association (AERA) in New York. The AERA conference attracts upwards of 15,000 participants and can be both a rich and a daunting experience.

Besides meeting students from other U21 universities, the goals are to learn others’ strategies for

  • Effective conference participation: Getting the most out of AERA

  • Career Development: Getting through, getting published, getting employed

Funds have been made available by U21 to support the costs of the meeting venue, the evening meal on 23 March, and two breakfast meetings on 25 and 27 March.

In addition, the 2007 meeting of the U21 Deans of Education gave in-principle agreement to the proposal that any doctoral student participating in the U21 Doctoral Students in Education Networking Forum should be subsidized for one additional night’s accommodation. At this meeting, Radhika Gorur, who is a doctoral student at the University of Melbourne, accepted the role of Representative and Co-ordinator for the U21 Doctoral Student in Education Network.

Details of previous meetings can be found at http://www.universitas21.com/educationgroup.html.

We hope you will join us!

If you plan to attend AERA and would like to attend the Forum or would simply like more information about the U21 Doctoral Students in Education Network, please email Radhika Gorur.

A more detailed program will be sent to you closer to the time of the Forum.
